Finding and Embracing Your Voice: One Woman’s Journey
Most of us think we have to wait to “find our voice” until we have something “important” to say. Our speaker, Melanie Snyder, might beg to differ: Our voice is our calling, and it’s not always what or where we expect it! An MBA working in Corporate America, leading project teams and developing her staff, she never saw it coming…until destiny looked her in the eyes, taking three slow blinks.
So what kept her up at night? How did she find the courage to jump? And what keeps her moving in tough times? Come listen to Melanie’s story and discover what YOU might do today to prepare to share YOUR voice.
Melanie G. Snyder is a mediator, educator, author and advocate. After more than 20 years of experience in business, Melanie found herself drawn to the possibility of making a deep and lasting positive change in the lives of people who have been impacted by crime and the criminal justice system. Through a series of unexpected “coincidences” in 2007, and surrounded with the support of her family and community, Melanie made a radical mid-life career change and has shaped a new career having an impact in people’s lives.
Melanie now serves as the Executive Director of the Lancaster County Reentry Management Organization (RMO) – an initiative to improve community safety by helping people transitioning out of prison to become productive citizens and remain crime-free. She is on the Affiliated Faculty of Elizabethtown College, and has been invited to guest-lecture at Yale University. The author of Grace Goes to Prison: An Inspiring Story of Hope and Humanity, Melanie has traveled across the country to share her perspectives with national, regional and local audiences, including a TEDx event.
